Dhallywood actress Nusrat Faria was released from jail on Tuesday afternoon. After being freed on bail, she shared her immediate reaction through a post on social media.
At around 4:30 pm, Nusrat Faria posted on her Facebook page saying she had gone through one of the most difficult periods of her life over the past two days and felt mentally distressed during that time.
She expressed gratitude to her well-wishers, colleagues, fellow artistes and members of the public who supported her. She wrote that their encouragement played an important role in helping her return to normal life.
Faria also thanked media professionals, noting that their support was particularly meaningful and that she would remember the goodwill shown towards her.
On 18 May in the afternoon, Nusrat Faria was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. She was later shown as arrested in an attempted murder case filed at Bhatara Police Station and subsequently sent to jail by court order.
Although 22 May had initially been set as the bail hearing date, the court held a special hearing and granted her bail earlier, on Tuesday (20 May). She was released from jail at around 3:28 pm.
According to case sources, on 19 July last year a man named Enamul Haque was seriously injured after being shot while participating in a movement in Dhaka’s Bhatara area. After recovering following several months of treatment, he filed the case on 3 May this year.
In the case, Nusrat Faria has been listed as accused number 207. The first information report (FIR) describes her as a financier associated with the Awami League.
